SP02Guard ™ for Photoplethysmographic Reflectance Sensors
Features
What is reflectance photoplethysmography? The use of a reflectance type sensor upon the forehead. The Max-Fast ® manufactured by Covidien is a disposable self-adhesive pulse oximetry sensor applied to the forehead for detecting arterial oxygen saturations.
Why pad the sensor?
Hospital acquired pressure ulcers from the device lenses create impressions when compressed with the headgear attachment and securing the PPG sensor to tightly to the dermis of the forehead.
Advantages
Improvement in supra-orbital arterial detection due to less scattering of the photons./
Diminished pressure ulceration from the emitting and detecting sensor elements.
Pressure Sores are painful and heat eminating from the light source may lead to a thermal skin injury when applied to tightly in direct contact with the skin.
Benefits
Reduction in pressure sores from the device emitting and detecting lenses by applying Strapparatus ® Sp02Guard ™.
Fewer rotations or repositioning of the sensor are needed.
